So it's been so long since I posted I had to read what I last wrote to remember where I left off. The last thing I said was next time I'll just pick a topic and stick with it, but I'm not going to do that. I've been silent for three months and I have a lot to say.
I'm not sure why I haven't been in the mood to write. I've even been ignoring my novel. At first I blamed my busy schedule, then I blamed the move, then I blamed the fact that I'm rarely alone in my house and I usually only write when I'm left to my own devices, but the more I think about it the more I know those are nothing, but a bunch of excuses. And I know that was a really long run-on sentence, but I'm not caring.
Let me try to get you caught up in the last three months. March I moved to Colorado into our first house. We had to leave our apartment in a hurry and left it a total mess, but we really didn't have much of a choice. We ran out of room in the giant U-Haul. We moved Eleven and Daggins with us too, so we had that thing packed as full as it could get. The drive here wasn't that bad. Hubby left early in the morning since he would have to drive 55 the whole way here. We stayed the night in Wyoming, it was actually a pretty nice city we stayed at. I don't remember the name of it anymore though, but it was tucked up in some valley. Other than an incident with the fridge the move into the house went very smooth. On a side note I don't recommend renting anything from U-Haul they nickel and dime you and harass you none stop to return their truck when you have another day to keep the truck.
Daggins had to go to Chicago on business almost as soon as we got here. Eleven and I took the opportunity to tour Denver when we went to pick him up from the airport. We had a decent time, but decided it takes forever to get anywhere in that city. On the way home a blizzard hit and took us four hours to travel what normally takes less than two. It was so nerve wracking, thanks to Eleven's driving skills and Daggins' tiny bladder we made it back safely with memories that will last a lifetime. Why Don't We Do It In the Road?
My first few days at the new site was a little awkward, but I got settled in enough. My direct reports seemed to like having me there to help them out, but I wasn't sure how anyone else felt about it. I still actually feel like I'm on the outside looking in here. I'm used to having co-workers I trust and I know I can tell anything to and the information won't leave my office. I don't have that here at all. I feel like I have to watch what I say all the time. That's one reason I can't wait for my account to go 100% at home.
Speaking of at home, the transition for my old site in early April was far from smooth. There were several challenges and here we are months later and we still have a few of those challenges left. Most of the major issues have been overcome though. We're mostly used to managing both worlds and the new technologies that come with it.
Also early April Eleven and I flew out to Minneapolis to throw a bachelorette party for Teal. I honestly wasn't sure I planned everything out enough at first, but it turned out to be a blast. I'm pretty sure at least one of us should have died that first night. Three girls in an unknown city on the verge of alcohol poisoning sounds like a great recipe for disaster to me. I really don't remember most of the night, but it was fun trying to piece everything together the next day. Teal walked to the convenient store the next morning to buy us crackers and herself some cigarettes. We spent a few hours slowly drinking water, nibbling on crackers, and just laughing so hard about our antics from the night before.Looking back on that morning I'm pretty sure we were still drunk. Poor Eleven had such a hang over all day she couldn't even enjoy Mall of America. That night we went to Flash Dance the musical. It was awesome and worth the price. Overall we had a lot of fun and was totally worth the money we spent getting there.
We were looking forward to seeing CPK and Apple, they were coming down for a concert and planned on staying at my house, but they couldn't make it because of a huge blizzard that hit most of the Mid-West which caused several roads to close. We were all bummed that they couldn't make it.
Later in April Teal and Aero got married in Oklahoma and Eleven, Hubby, and I were in the bridal party of course...Daggins was an usher. So we all go to take a mini vacation, for Hubby and I it was home, for Eleven and Daggins it was like walking into Varsity Blues. We didn't get to do everything we wanted to do because of lack of funds, but we still had some good times. The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch. We didn't get to dance as much as we wanted at the reception because of a lack of alcohol problem, but we got drunk enough. And I'm pretty sure hubby and I crushed that speach if I do say so myself.
May wasn't all that eventful, not to downplay the horrible tornadoes that his Oklahoma. Luckily our families were not affected, but my heart goes out to all the people who were. We all were/are financially broke from the move and the wedding we didn't do too much. Daggins' parents came down for a visit and brought his motorcycle with them. It was great to see them. We had a little cook out and it was a lot of fun having them here. I hope they can make the trip again.
Eleven's dad is going to fly in this week for a wedding and will be staying a couple of days as well. We're all looking forward to seeing him again. Isn't it weird, when you're a kid you avoid your friend's parents at all cost, but as an adult you enjoy the company.
Overall I like living here and I love my house. I do miss my Bismarck friends and wish I could keep in better contact with them. I really suck at long distance friendships. I'm sorry guys. I swear I think of you guys almost daily. I love you all!
Love you too, Baby Girl!
